Macuco Boat Safari
The Macuco Safari is an alternative way to view the Iguaçu Falls from the water and is not for the faint hearted. This boat ride can take passengers to within five meters of the Iguaçu Falls themselves, offering unforgettable views.
The trip begins with a three kilometer ride in jeep-towed open wagons giving unobstructed views as you pass along the rainforest trail. As you progress through the lush jungle, a guide will point out the magnificent flora and fauna of the park.
You are presented with the choice of a 600 metre walk through the rainforest to view a 20 metre waterfall or remaining in the wagons. |
For the second part of the trip you take to the water. An inflatable twin engine boat leaves from Gran Aventura, 4000 meters downstream from the waterfalls.
The boat is manipulated up river through the rapids to either the 'Three Musketeers Falls' or the 'Three Marias Falls' depending on the season and height of the water. The captain will then manoeuver the boat to give passengers a refreshing shower - be warned, you will get very wet!
After a stop in front of the Iguaçu Falls, the boat then heads back down the rapids at speed, an exciting adventure ride.
This trip lasts for approximately an hour and passengers are advised to take waterproof covering for their cameras.
Trips and tours can be organised through the hotel or via Central Tours which has an office off the Lobby of the Hotel das Cataratas. |
