The Three Borders Landmark, located in Foz do Iguaçu is another main tourist attraction in the region. Built of cement and rock, the obelisk is painted in the national colours of Brazil - yellow and green.
This fascinating landmark was constructed in order to geographically mark the triple border between Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay. An obelisk, or "Marco", was built in each country to represent the vertex of an equilateral triangle, the symbol of equality and respect among the three countries.
The views from the landmark are breathtaking; to the South the Iguaçu River marks the border between Argentina and Brazil, and to the West the Paraná River marks the border with Paraguay.
